imageDr. Amy Kroeker, ND is a Licensed Naturopathic Doctor. She graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM), a 4 year medical program focused on training practitioners to treat the underlying cause of disease in an individual manner. “What I do is really root cause analysis,” explains Dr. Kroeker, ND. “I look for the reason a person is sick in the first place and then support or restore function so that a person can heal.” The basis of the program focuses on basic medical sciences such as biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Building on this foundation, treatment modalities are taught which include botanical medicine, traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, nutrition, lifestyle/physical counselling and therapy, etc. During her training, Amy completed a year-long clinical internship at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic in Toronto as well as a rotation at the Brampton Civic Naturopathic Clinic within the Brampton Civic Hospital.

Prior to being accepted into the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program at CCNM, Dr. Kroeker, ND received a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutritional Sciences from the University of Manitoba.

Dr. Kroeker, ND is licensed both in Manitoba through the Manitoba Naturopathic Association (MNA) and in Canada through the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND). Licensing is required to practice within the province of Manitoba and ensures that education, practice standards, and continuing education are maintained. Dr. Kroeker, ND is also an active member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), an organization of physicians and scientists dedicated to the advancement and development of research, tools, science, technology, and protocols that can detect, prevent, and treat chronic diseases associated with aging. Dr. Kroeker, ND also enjoys teaching; previously as an instructor teaching nutrition to massage therapy students at Robertson College and now currently providing a lecture on Naturopathic Medicine to students enrolled in the Faculty of Pharmacy’s Natural Products Course at the University of Manitoba.

Dr. Kroeker, ND focuses on a general medical practice and sees numerous conditions such as thyroid conditions, digestive concerns (IBS, Crohn’s, colitis, celiac), food allergies, high cholesterol, heart disease, diabetes, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, migraines, acne, eczema, allergies, hormonal imbalance, PMS, peri-menopausal complaints, depression, anxiety, stress, adrenal imbalance, etc. She also has a special interest in skin conditions, optimizing sport performance, and mental/emotional/neurological conditions.

Aside from clinical practice, Amy is an active and curious individual who is always on the search for new things to learn. This curiosity has led her to try numerous sports. Amy has cycled across Canada, rowed as a member of Manitoba’s provincial rowing team, and currently enjoys crossfit training. As well as sports and science Amy enjoys piano, writing, and art. “I don’t have just ONE sole passion in life. Instead, I choose to take my passion FOR life into everything I do.”

I highly recommend Amy as your ND. When she was at the Robert Schad clinic at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, I was her patient—she is very knowledgeable, goes the extra mile, and cares very much about all aspects of your health. All the best back home in Manitoba, Amy!

It’s good to know our community of Selkirk has access to you,”Amy” a Naturopathic Doctor which are few in number though growing! And providing an alternative to Allopathic reductionistic MDs, in the field of medicine. As a School Clinician Social Worker I personally see the need for an easy to understand ” indiviidual nutriental health plan” for most of our community youth. Hopefully our community parents and guardians take this up as an offer to check out your professional healthcare insights.
