Recipes

Food is important. And it should be delicious…or interesting…or both. That being said, remember that your taste buds DO change over time. You may not like everything on this page the first time you try it. I expect that and you should too. I have been changing my own diet for more than 10 years and I still like macaroni and cheese better than sushi! But not by much.

I have some recipes of my own on this page. I also provide many links to other sites, because…well…I’m no chef. To be honest, I strongly dislike cooking. I learn a new recipe MAYBE a few times a year. You need more than that. I don’t agree with all the viewpoints on the sites I link to, BUT the recipes are great and healthy.

So enjoy exploring and developing new tastes!

Zucchini Variations:

I disliked zucchini until I began shredding it and frying it with a little oil and garlic, salt, and pepper.

Basic recipe) Shred a zucchini (yes, the whole thing) into a frying pan. Add a tablespoon oil. Start frying over medium heat. Add 1 clove of garlic and salt and pepper to taste. Fry until there is no liquid in the bottom of the pan. Enjoy!

Variation 1) Start with the basic recipe above. Add 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves. Add a flavour rich protein such as pepperoni. Fry until meat is hot and the liquid from the zucchini has steamed off.

Variation 2) Add 1 can salmon, 1 Tbsp lemon juice, 1 Tablespoon fresh thyme leaves, and 1/2 cup Hemp Hearts to the basic recipe above. If you are not sensitive to dairy, sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top before serving.

Green Smoothie recipes

What better way to get 4 or 5 vegetable and fruit servings into your diet before 10am than to blend them into a smoothie! Scared of the green colour? Don’t be! These recipes generally contain a few fruits to help your taste buds out. I haven’t found more delicious recipes than the ones on the website link below. I tried a month long green smoothie-a-day challenge they had once and went from being puzzled with how to incorporate vegetables into smoothies to never leaving vegetables out!
